Other Activities
Gambling/Cruise - The Texas Treasure is a gambling ship, which is equipped with a full casino. Tickets can be purchased for an afternoon (lunch) cruise or an evening (dinner) cruise. Discount tickets are available at a number of places in town. Even if you don’t want to gamble, there is a large buffet-style meal and live entertainment in the outdoor bar area on the rear of the ship. It is a great place to see Port A from the ocean and have a couple of cocktails. In addition, while steaming out to international waters (where it is legal to gamble), the crew usually offers skeet shooting. www.texas-treasure.com
Dolphin Watching: Dolphin Dock located at 300 W. Cotter has daily and nightly tours to cruise around the bay to observe the many dolphins that we have here. At Deep Sea Headquarters you will also find Dolphin Encounters aboard Kohootz. www.kohootz.com
Birding Center: Located just off Cutoff Rd. is the local birding center. People come from all over to see the many different types of native birds. There are also a couple of alligators to see there—if they are not being shy.
Shelling: When the tides are strong (check the tide chart), the shelling can be very good along the beach. Some of the better shelling is done near the Horace Caldwell pier, which is just south along the beach from the jetty. There is a regular “shelling” or “walking tour” of the wildlife on the beach. Check the local paper for times and locations.
